If you're reading this, you probably know the feeling.
You find a great PM newsletter, a smart podcast, a piece of advice that actually resonates - and then they mention their Series B, their 400-person eng team, the time they were at Google. And you're sitting in Amsterdam (or Dublin, or Berlin, or Lisbon) thinking: wait, this doesn't apply to me at all!
That was me. I'd spent months building what I thought was a great content diet - books, blogs, a carefully curated social feed - only to realise I'd accidentally assembled a library of ex-FAANG perspectives.
Really interesting content, aspirational really. But it assumes you're working at a US tech company. It doesn't mention GDPR, KYC, or the dozen other acronyms that shape how we build here.
It doesn't cover what executive presence looks like when your culture values directness over performance theatre. It doesn't even acknowledge that some of us work at companies where people aren't quite sure what Product is meant to do.
So I went looking for a more European feed.
And in the comments of someone else's post about exactly this problem, I half-jokingly said to a stranger: "we should start a podcast." That stranger was Joana.
A few weeks (fine, months) of planning later - here we are.
So what is this?
The House of European Tech is a platform for European tech and the people building it.
We'll cover:
- The tools and companies coming out of Europe - starting with our own experience switching to a European tech stack
- The PM and tech experience in Europe - the regulatory landscape, the culture, the wins and the very specific frustrations
- Founder stories from people building quietly on this side of the Atlantic
- The stuff that rarely makes US tech media but absolutely should
We're not anti-US. We're just pro-Europe having its own space.
Who are we?
I'm Lorraine - a product leader based in the Netherlands, writing about European tech, PM work, and the honest reality of building here. You can find Joana's intro on the site.
We'll write from our own perspectives — same mission, different voices. You'll hear from both of us.
And if you have a story - about building in Europe, switching tools, navigating regulations, any of it - just reply to this email. We want to hear it.
Welcome to the house. 🏡
Lorraine (& Joana)
